FlexTracker has its first major update! I've received some valuable feedback from a few different users of FlexTracker, and I've been hard at work implementing new core features, as well as adding some quality-of-life updates to make FlexTracker the best shift tracking companion it can be!

Let's take a look at the brand new features for FlexTracker:

Weekly Goals

FlexTracker's main goal is to help you have a healthier work-life balance, and making sure you're only working the hours you aim to every week is crucial to keeping that in tact. This update brings a brand new goal tracking feature, allowing you to tell FlexTracker how many hours you aim to work per week, and seeing a highlight of your week's progress so far. You'll even receive a notification once you've hit your goal!

A view of the hours you have worked this week compared to your own weekly goal

To setup Weekly Goals, first tap on the employment you wish to track from the main list. Then, tap the more settings button in the top right. Scroll down until you see "Weekly Goals" and enable it. Finally, tap the button underneath to set the amount of hours you wish to work per week. Once complete, you will see a new section in the main page of your employment, detailing the amount of hours worked this week vs your weekly goal. You will also see each day you completed a shift on. You're now one step closer to achieving a top tier work-life balance!

Please note: if you have not given FlexTracker permission to send you notifications, you will not get an alert when you have completed your goals.

Richer Complications

Previously, placing the FlexTracker complication on your watch face gave you quick access to the app. Now, the FlexTracker complication will give you a better insight into what you're currently doing! Not sure if you clocked in? The complication will show the icon of the employment you're currently clocked into. If it shows the FlexTracker logo, there are no employments currently clocked in. Tap it, clock in, then edit your clock in time if you need to (by tapping the clocked in time at the top)! On break? Your watch face will show you the time your break ends, and you'll still get a notification to remind you (if notification access has been granted).

The FlexTracker complication comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, so you can be sure your favourite watch face will support it. You can even add the rectangular complication to your SmartStack if you prefer a clean watch face with no complications!

Power User Tip: Check out the complication tip in the Tips section in the app settings. You'll see a brief guide on only showing the FlexTracker complication while you're at work, and automatically replacing it with another work-unrelated complication when you leave!

Quick Break Time Editing

Many employers offer multiple breaks throughout our shifts, and some of these are likely to be different lengths. Previously, you could not edit the set length of your breaks once you'd clocked in. Now, you can simply edit the length of your break right from the "On Break" screen! When you're ready to take a break, tap the coffee cup button on the bottom right of the clock in page. You'll see your time remaining on break, as well as two new buttons. The timer button will pop up a recognisable interface for you to edit your break length, while the X button will cancel your break just like before. You'll still receive a notification at the end of your break as expected.

And More!

That's not all. I've incorporated a few quality-of-life changes to make FlexTracker even more seamless and personal than before:

  • Prefer the 12hr time format? Open the app settings and turn off 24hr time format to see times in a way that's more familiar to you.

  • You've set a custom colour for your employment to show on the beautiful animated background on the clock in screen. Now, this colour will also be applied to the icon you set on the main employment list.

  • Previously, setting the location of your employment required you to be at work to set the correct place. Now, simply drag the map around to find your employment and place the pin over your workplace. If you're unable to find it on the map, you can still choose your current location when you're next physically at your workplace.

  • I hate bugs. That's why I've squashed as many as I can in v1.1. You'll hopefully notice a much smoother experience across the app!

Thank you again for downloading FlexTracker. I hope its been as useful to you as it has to me in keeping track of my work days, and has been giving you useful insights on how long you spend at work. I can't wait to share the next update with you! (did someone say exporting shift data?)
